I don't live in the Montreal area, is it still possible to get something made?

Absolutely!  We work with clients Internationally.  We do most of our communication either over Skype or through email so location is not a factor. We work using the latest in CAD software and so are able to send you 3D images of what your finished piece will look like before it is even made and we send you images of the finished piece before shipping it out to you via FedEx.

Will getting something custom made be more expensive than buying something in a store?

Not necessarily.  Sometimes jewelry pieces in big stores are cheaper because they are mass produced.  Obviously the cost of making multiples of the same piece will be lower as the manufacturing cost will be divided among the quantity of pieces made.  However, retail stores also have large overhead which they need to account for.  Here at Chris & Alix we have cut the overhead.  So even though you are making a one off piece- you are only paying for what you are getting.  The quality of workmanship will also be higher than a mass marketed piece as all our pieces are handcrafted and not machine made.

How long does the custom process take?

Once the design is chosen the actual production time takes 3-6 weeks depending on the complexity of your project.  

I have an idea for a piece but it is unconventional.  Are you willing to work with me?

Absolutely!  We know you are looking to have something custom made for a reason.  We are here to help whatever the project may be.

Can I use stones or metal from an existing piece of jewelry?

Yes, we can reuse both stones and metal (silver, gold or platinum) from preexisting pieces.

Do you require a deposit before beginning the work?

Yes, we require a 50% deposit before beginning the work on your piece.  The remaining balance can be paid once your piece is completed.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept payments via Etransfers or credit cards (Visa, Mastercard or American Express)

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship internationally using FedEx Priority which includes insurance and a tracking number.

Do you accept returns?

Due to the nature of our business, no we do not.  We take all the precautionary steps before production to ensure that the details are understood so that you get exactly what you ordered.  Once the final proposal is accepted the piece belongs to you.

Do we use conflict free diamonds?

Yes, all our diamonds are GIA certified and we encourage our clients to buy diamonds from areas where human rights and environmental regulations are followed.
